Histamine is involved in the immune response, digestion and communication between cells, but when its breakdown is inadequate or its release is excessive, the overall picture requires an analysis that considers the different factors involved. Hives, itching, flushing, gastrointestinal symptoms, headaches and reactions to different foods deserve to be considered together with their history and accompanying factors.
In mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), mast cells release histamine and other mediators that affect several body systems at the same time. Histamine intolerance, allergies and MCAS are different conditions, even when some symptoms overlap.
My work focuses on reviewing the whole situation: nutrition, digestion, gut function, nutrient status, sleep, stress and the nervous system’s response. On this basis, I develop personalised nutrition and lifestyle support, with attention to individual tolerance and changes over time, in the context of specialist assessment and management.
